12-2299-10/05 safety valve
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:10:57 PM »
I recently installed a new igniter in my oven and I know it worked because I did a quick wire-in and it glowed. In a hurry to install it I forgot to unplug the plug to the igniter/valve. One lead made contact with oven and opened the safety valve for about 10 seconds. After that the igniter never glowed again. I replaced the igniter and it still doesn't glow. What could be the problem? I have power going to the oven. [ 120v]

the igniter is a WB2X9998
the safety valve is NC-4148-5
The oven is 12-2299-10/05

What am I looking for with the meter? Amperage ,Voltage, or Ohms?

Checked from continuity across both leads on valve. Valve is isolated and completely out of circuit. Set greenlee cm-600 meter to ohms and touched both leads across valve terminals. No tone or reading from meter. I guess I fried safety valve?

Tappan  12-2299-10/05 made by Frigidaire
USUALLY a short of the Gas Valve wires to chassis won't ruin anything,
UNLESS the Wall Outlet polarity is REVERSED.
Check L1, Neutral poplarity
After leaving this Earth, "Do you want the smoking or non-smoking section?"
