Maytage Peforma Washer

Hi,
I have a topload maytag performa. I replaced the pump about 1 month ago, worked fine since but yesterday the tub stopped spinning. Flipped it over to spin the tub/agitator pulley back and forth and it spins again, pumps water out and agitates but cloths are wet when done spinning cycle. I am wondering if the pump tension can be adjusted, I don't see how as the pump holes are permanent. I don't want to spend more money if the transmission is shot or about to be . I did read about a thrust bearing kit but the appliance parts guy I have worked with said that will not fix this issue. Any ideas?

Sorry Cannot find it anywhere. It is 10 years old and a topload oversize capacity plus model. The only part I could find was on the lid 35 - 5369.
One thing I just noticed when the tub is spinning the agitator is now also moving back and forth or spinning slowly. The agitator works fine in the wash cycle and the pump works. Could this be a transmission problem?

Did you look on the back of the control panel for the model number?

Thanks for the reply. I have been over the whole washer and only a lbale that says make sure you have the model and serial number before calling the listed 800 number. No model listed.

It looks like the PAV2300 series to me. I had the manual but we moved and I cannot find it.

Ok did not want to spend the $$$ if it was not worth it as the wife has been out of work for a while and $$$ are tight.

The thrust bearing is less then $50 and easy to install.

If it's spinning and agitating at the same time, you have a bad transmission.

I agree with tgoods. During the spin cycle, the agitator does what the spinning tub does. Anything else=bad transmission. In the first version of the thrust bearing, the bearing could disintegrate completely. That changed the spacing and the pulley would not be able to totally disengage the brake.
This allowed the brake to drag and keep the tub from reaching full speed.
