FDB1050REC2, this was a newly installed unit and the customer noticed right away that the unit didn't sound quite right when it was running. I ran the unit and noticed there was no water being pumped through the spray arms. After getting into the pump assembly, I noticed an important feature of the sump seemed to be missing (you techs will enjoy this). The Frigidaire pumps are designed to alternately wash the lower and the upper racks and they do this by first washing using the lower spray arm and then switching to the upper spray arm(s). There is a discharge port located in the sump that uses a check ball to change between these two spray arms. This particular sump was missing this port (see photo). So without this port to send water to the delivery tube, the check ball was sealing the port to the lower spray arm and thus, there was no water to the spray arms. After replacing the sump housing , this dishwasher now works properly.
