Dishwasher no longer cycles

Kenmore Ultrawash Dishwasher Model # 655.13712K601

4 Years old.  It no longer cycles thru the wash, rinse and dry cycle.  It will turn on, fill and run the wash process indefinitely.

I can manually cancel the wash and it will drain.   What can be done to make the repair?

Try cleaning the turbidity sensor.  If your dishwasher has calcium buildup you should run a citric acid based cleaner through it.  If the the sensor looks good, run it through a diagnostic cycle.  Do this by pressing Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal within 6 seconds.  This cycle will run for just a few minutes and will recalibrate the sensor.  If there's still a problem replace the sensor, W10134017.

How long is "indefinitely" in this case? These dishwashers will run a very long time (around 4 hours) if they are not heating the water. The control adds up to 45 minutes of time in each thermal hold part of the cycle, but it will eventually continue even if the water did not heat. Some models will shut down and flash the clean light when this happens. Some won't. My guess is you have a heating issue. Check the resistance of the heating element, and check to see that you are getting power to the heater.

I agree with whjeffs recommendation.
Check the hetaer circuit including the hi-limit thermostat.
