Whirlpool is going to put themselves out of business if they keep selling the crap they're making today....it's all about the shareholders.

Then there is this...
Old news, but the full effect has yet to happen...

Quote
Whirlpool (WHR, Fortune 500), based in Benton Harbor, Mich., said it plans to shutter its plant in Fort Smith, Ark., by mid-2012.
That means that about 1,000 workers -- including 884 paid by the hour and 90 on salaries -- will lose their jobs. In addition, 800 other workers have already been laid off from the factory.

I wonder how much the Whirlpool workers at Fort Smith really care about quality control when they are putting them Whirlpool refrigerators together now. After all in a few months they won't have a job anyway.

I wonder if this economy is affecting other brands as well, like GE, Electrolux etc.?

I am wondering what the effect of Sears going to LG as the supplier of their front load laundry products & dropping Whirlpool will be? That's got to make a big dent in Whirlpool's numbers since Sears sells a TON of appliances.
