sounds like you need the membrane switch.

instead of taking door apart, it would alot easier to replace whole door assy. alot of small parts,  door assy. part # AP5070056

I've serviced these. Bigbuck is dead-on. Do yourself a favor & just replace the door. 1 plug in near the top hinge, a release tab at the top hinge & the door just lifts off & on.
