Samsung Bottom Mount Drain Freezing

RB315ABBP. First call was 2 weeks ago. Defrost drain in the refrigerator is freezing over.  I can tell the drain is frozen down by the freezer because of the time it takes to thaw with my steamer.  They had the freezer set at -4°F, I reset it for 0°F.  They called back today and it's frozen again.  Are there any service bulletins for this problem?  Does Samsung have a tech site that maybe I can access? Thanks.

RB315ABBP does not seem to be a good model number. Are you sure it's correct?

RB215ABBP.  I've installed plenty of copper wire heat probes but I don't think it would work in this case.  Why not?  Because, usually I can clear a frozen with my steamer in a few seconds.  This took a few minutes of constant steam down the drain hole to clear.  The blockage seems to be down where the drain tube passes by the freezer.  That's at least a foot or more down the drain.  There's got to be a service bulletin for this.  If nobody's got a better idea, I'm going to try a braided heater in the drain.

Hello,I am a bit late to suggest a solution.I have seen many maytag or whirlpool fridges with defrost drain problem due to the styrofoam saturated with water.Often I would replace the styrofoam(evaporator housing,or drain block) if available.If  not available or not accessible,I would add a foil heater(trough  heater)and hook it up to ahead of the defrost thermostat so the heater would be energised for the total duration of the defrost period.The added heater would heat up the defrosted water hot enough to past the icy cold drain passage.It worked for me many times.The foil heater rating would be 40 to 65 watts.Sometimes I have to  add two such heaters to make it work.This is not for warranty repair.This procedure may make the fridge work a few years longer until the styrofoan gets really saturated and too wet.Without the added foil heaters,one would have to throw away the fridge since the heating strip does not have enough heat to do the job.I would like to hear from other repair man about his experience with the drain trough heater.       shillion
