Dead Dryer Kenmore Model 110.60702990

I get nothing when I push start button.  No drum rotation no heat nothing.  I have power to outlet.  I replaced the door switch after reading a previous post here.  Still nothing.
The light inside does come on and go off with the door open and closed.
I can hear timer ticking when I put it on Timed Dry.
I need ideas on what to try next.

I would first check to make sure I had the correct voltage to the dryer.

How do I check the voltage to my electric dryer?

If the voltage is correct I would then check the thermal fuse on the back of the dryer for continuity with a multimeter.

Did you test the start button?

With an ohm meter......

122 volts each leg.  Did not test start button with ohm meter.  Tested thermal fuse with wires removed and do not have continuity.  Does this keep dryer from starting?

Yes, if the thermal fuse does not have continuity the dryer will not start.


Once you replace it the dryer should work fine again.


You will also want to check your dryer vent and blower housing for lint build up. It maybe why the fuse went bad to start with.

If fuses are bad clean the entire venting, air ducts of dryer and install new fuse

Just wanted to follow up and say thank you.  I replaced the thermal fuse and dryer is working fine.  I did take apart the vent duct work off the back of the dryer as suggested.  What I found was a build up of lint at the bottom.  Seemed to be caused by a "web" of flat wooden toothpicks holding the lint.  Cleaned out and reassembled.  Thanks again!!

It is best to hang your toothpicks on a line to dry.
