Maytag dryer cleanout -- 101

OK, call me greenhorne, newbie, whatever..

I'm fairly handy, and have done a bit of appliance repair. One thing I usually do is clean out the lint from the dryer air passages every year or so. On my old Kenmore, this was a simple 15 min job.

However, I've got a newer Maytag (about 2 years old) -- a Home Depot special. Nice unit, but the case is all different.  Instead of digging into it, I thought I'd ask a couple of questions first (call it old age... I'm stopping at gas stations now to ask directions.. surely senility is not far off).

This unit has a wrap-around vertical sides, and the only seams are around the front edges and the top edges. I'm guessing there are clips that hold the unit together, and am ready to dig into these. However, it appears that I will have to take off the entire front case to get the the blower motor ducts. This appears a bit more involved than it should.

Note there is no lower panel on the front that is independently removable (much to the misinformation of the user's manual).

Questions: Does the front panel come off entirely to do this "routine" service? Is there an easier way that would do a good job.
