Hi everyone, Recently my washer has become loud when on the spin cycle. I removed the lower front panel and watched while it spun. I noticed it bounces around a lot. (Recently replaced the shocks as one had broke. All was fine after that) I took the back off and just spun the drum around and it seems loud. I'm guessing it is a bearing in the drum unit but not sure. I will try to attached pics (may need to re-size them) maybe someone may know the model number so i can check a parts diagram and order parts. I'm guessing its around 10 years old.

Did you open the door and look for the model/serial number tag?

Ahhh there it is! I looked all around and even inside when i took the back off. TY. Its a GLTF1040as0

Well I opened it up and grabbed one of the Vane's inside the tub and pulled an pushed the drum. It sounds/feels like there is play. Would this be a bearing? But by looking at the diagram its hard to tell what parts could be causing this. From what i see, off the inner tub/drum there is a shaft that goes through the rear outer tub, to the drum pulley. Now by looking at the parts the only thing you can order is the outer rear tub assembly. NOT just the bearing! Which becomes a $200 bearing

Another sign of bad bearings is grease splatters inside the cabinet.  People also describe the sound of a jet taking off when the machine is in spin cycle.

WOW, Nice! Thanks Blondejon! You hit the nail on the head! Couldn't of been any more perfect. Exactly my washer and problem to the T. Part already ordered, hopefully the washer will keep working till it gets here.

There's also a spider bracket on the inner tub that could be cracked or broken. That can cause the tub to jump around when spinning. If the tub gets too out of control when it's spinning it can break the outer tub. I would take it apart and see whats going on inside.
