Performa takes forever to dry..

 My dryer at one point was clogged between the lint screen and blower..
    I Cleaned that out along with the exhaust venting.
  It now takes forever to dry ..
The element still gets hot ..but cycles on and off..
The heater  housing seems a bit burnt..
 I suspect it is one of the thermostats...
  
So could  it be the High-Limit Thermostat  or the Control Thermostat located by the blower..

Dude you need to remove the front panel and inspect the blower wheel. It is plastic and these will strip out over time.Reach in there and turn the wheel and see if it is tight. If it is loose then it will take twice as long to dry the clothes. I would start there.

 The blower wheel is on their solid....when I turn it the drum turns also .
 Looks as good as new...

For the sake of TESTING ONLY, remove the vent off the back of the dryer & run 1 load .(DO NOT LEAVE IT OFF AFTER TESTING, it will let a lot of lint & steam into the room) If it works fine it is NOT the dryer but a plugged exhaust. I see more exhaust problems now than thermostat troubles.

      I read all the troubleshooting techniques before I  posted ..that was the first thing I  checked .

It has totally free air flow ..the blower works fine ..the element heats up ..but after one drying cycle I'm left with a damp ..half dried load of laundry..

     The element will get red hot for about a minute then cycle off..so I'm thinking it is thermostat related..

I ran into a couple of them that the limit thermostat (the one on top of the element) the mounting bracket would bend down with the heat. Try moving the thermostat up a little. 3/16 of a inch max.
