GE Profile Washer WHSB9000BOWC
« on: January 09, 2012, 10:25:57 PM »
This washer was a trade-in the other day so it was a freebie. He wanted cash but I told him it was probably junk. I was right. Still alot of good parts on it though. Previous owner stated it would not spin. Before I hauled it away I checked the belt and lid switch. They were ok so I figured one of the boards or the motor was fried. I had an identical one like it this past summer with a no spin and just parted it out using the tub and transmission in another unit. This is only the second one I have picked up with the board in the bottom left of the unit. Anyway I decided to check it out tonight. The tub could not be manually turned either way by grabbing the trans pulley after removing the belt. I could not see anything stuck in the tub so I removed the agitator and bell. I spotted the problem right away when I looked at the shaft from the trans. Real loose. Wondering if the top of the trans is servicable? I have lots of GE transmission that have a bad bottom bearing. Can this top shaft/gear be replaced with another one I have laying around? Check out the video:

I went out there just now and took a rope looped under the agitater and laid a piece of pipe across the machine. Took my claw hammer and twisted the rope around till she popped loose. The drive bell seems pretty tight on the shaft so I am thinking once I get that off I will find out the same thang you have.

i have , what they call agitator tammer, what it is, is rubber round shape balloon, with a hose attached to it, hook it to water hose on washer, when water fills balloon, pops up agitator, never has failed on me as of yet.               knock on wood.
