On 05/12/07, we purchased a Kenmore dryer at our local Sears store. The instruction manual lists it as an "Oasis Canyon Capacity Electric Dryer" and the parts sticker shows "D26 M67086 R".
We've been through this problem with both an online technician and a visiting repairman. In neither case could a problem be found. A fellow on Lifehacker, username "tgoods", suggested I post here for advice on the problem. Very well. Here it is.
Occasionally, for no apparent reason, the dryer stops with error code F-45 blinking. This, we clear, simply by turning off power, and starting the dryer again.
The error code is not mentioned in the "Use and Care Guide". The Guide instructs the user to call for assistance should any error code appear which does not appear in the guide. This, we did, inasmuch as the error code appeared even upon our first use of the dryer. The online technician advised us simply to restart the dryer (which we've done, ever since). And when we called the local tech for repair, he could find no problem.
We have ensured the dryer is hooked up appropriately. We scrupulously clean the lint trap each time we use the dryer.
Shortly after obtaining the dryer, we remodeled, and moved the dryer from inside the house to the garage, drilling a new hole in the wall for venting. Again, we ensured proper hookup for venting (even purchasing new venting tube). The problem persists.
While the problem does not cripple our use of the dryer, it is nonetheless quite annoying! It would at least be nice to know what provokes the error code. (It seems rather like the old Windows error message, "Unspecified error".)
