Performa Issue
« on: December 31, 2011, 12:48:07 PM »
Performa PAV3200AWW machine.

- Very slow spin while on spin cycle with clothes in tub
- With an empty tub the spin cycle starts out slow and eventually gets up to speed.
- Screeching noise
- Belt is in need of replacement, no doubt about it.
- With belt off the pump turns easily as does motor
- Can turn transmission pulley counter clockwise and watch the upper cam and pulley ride up the shaft and engage - brake disengages and   the tub turns
Can turn clockwise and watch it agitate.

Given my observations and condition of belt, does it seem like the cause of my issue or is it possible that something is wrong with brake or thrust bearing?

Thanks

sometimes clothes get trapped between the inner and outer basket, first i would lift the lid and run my hand around the inside all the way around,(between the top of the washer and the basket)and see if you feel clothing wedged in there,if you do not feel clothing, get a putty knife and press in at the seams near both corners and lift the top of the washer, just if you were lifting the hood of a car, this way you can get a better view. hope this help

Luckily I am mechanically inclined, hood is up and front panel is off the machine so I can get a look at everything.

remove the white plastic top, some may call it a splash guard, you should see plastic clips all around, take that plastic top off and you can get a hanger, straighten it out and run it between the two tubs, inner and outer, sometimes sock, and other clothing get in between there due to overloading the machine.

Checked for any obstructions and didnt find anything.

I have run a few more loads trying to listen more and to finish the laundry  ::)

Im leaning towards bearing issues just due to the noise that it is making, it does get up to full speed just makes quite a bit of noise.

Well I forgot about the issue until it came laundry day today  ::)

I must not have felt or paid much attention to the pump when originally diagnosing, did a test run this morning at it finally seized up and started leaking. Thanks for the help guys.
