KitchenAid Dryer KEYW770BWH0 Runs but does not heat

Kitchen Aid Dryer Model KEYW770BWH0

Customer said dryer would run, but not heat.
First I check the to make sure the dryer was getting the correct voltage.

How do I check the voltage to my electric dryer?

The voltage to the dryer was ok. Found the thermal cut-off was bad.
Installed Thermal Cut-off Kit Part # AP3094244. Then cleaned the lint out of dryer vent and blower housing.

WHIRLPOOL Dryer Thermal Cut - Off Kit, part number: AP3094244

AJ, when you clean the dryer vent what do you use? when you say dryer vent  are you talking about the duct leading outside?
I have heard people use leaf blowers, I have a vent cleaner that i use, it has rods and a brush I attach to my cordless drill, but I ran into a vent that lead to the top of the roof,I guess a leaf blower would have came in handy.

All vents here are to the roof,  just have to climb on up to remove screens and cap debris

Yes.

Same here, most of my vents are just shorter runs. Sometimes the longer runs I'm able to take sections of the venting apart and clean them.
If it's flex venting I may just replace it with new venting.

I always thought this looked like a slick set up for cleaning vent.

Why?

Even the apartment buildings around here run the vent up just far enough to get it between the floors and out the side of the building.
When you look at the side of the apartment buildings you can see the dryer vent hoods on the side of the building between each floor.

I have never had to deal with a dryer vent that went up through a roof.

Although I have not been in the business long.I have only ran into two houses thus far, with the vent leading to the roof, they were both in different  parts of town, but they both had closets in the center of the house that had a washer and dryer hookup, so i guess it was no where to run the duct but up. I used my buddy's portable compressed air tank and blew it out. I live in west TN. I dont think is very common here to see houses with vents on top.

Yeah most Laundry rooms here in ok are off of a garage in the middle of the house,  just popular here.  Lots of vent problems,  cleaned a 25 ft vent today.
