g.e front load washer control panel

model #wbvh5200j1ww   everything came apart fine and went back together fine except for the control panel.   the left side fit perfect but i can't get the right side on.  there is an !/8 inch gap.  i cheched for a screw and i checked the tabs and i can't see a thing in the way.   is there a trick or am i missing something?...  i'm at a loss.   happy holidays and thanks for any help!
