Portable A/C Cord Replacement
« on: July 22, 2017, 11:26:32 AM »
I'm a noob here.  Please be gentle.  I'm technical, but not a technician.

I have a Sharp Portable Air Conditioner Model CV-P09FL.  The unit has no power.  It has an 110v LCDI on the end of the power cord.  Resetting and testing the trip is no joy.  I removed the covers and disconnected the power leads.  Volt meter shows I've got a dead cord.

I searched and can't find a direct replacement: Sharp CACC-A030JBKZ PACK ASSEMBLY.

I realize the LCDI is for safety.  My guess is I could just remove that and replace it with a straight plug.  Can I just use a cord with a GFCI on the end and get the same effect?

Thanks

Thanks Manden. That confirms my suspicions. I found a replacement on amazon by looking for LCDI cord. I put a straight through plug on the end of the old cord. It's working until the new one gets here. Just won't leave it running without someone monitoring.
