Washer Model LAT2600AAE Timer Problem?

I looked at a Maytag LAT2600AAE washer that the timer did not seem to work correctly on.

The customer said it would stop in different parts of the cycle and not always the same spot.

I could not catch it doing that, but maybe I just did not wait long enough. I did find that if I wiggled the timer shaft just right when it was running I could stop the washer.

Told them it needed a new timer, does that sound right?
Could it be anything else?

I took that cover off of it but could not really tell much from looking at it.
