Washer makes very loud noises

Washer will fill with water, then when spin cycle starts it is slow to start and screams.  When it stops, it stops so hard that the whole washer will move 6+ inches.  Help. Any ideas?

Hi jp73,

For the noise during the spin cycle I would check the water pump to see if there is anything stuck in it.
Also open your washer lid and have a look at the holes in the tub. Sometimes things will get caught in the holes and scrap the sides of the outer tub when the basket spins.

As for it stopping hard that would be the brake. I would replace the brake rotor to repair that problem.
