wm1832cw error OE
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:51:43 AM »
hello all,
i have been messing with our wm1832cw washer.  It keeps giving  an OE error.  I have checked the catch screen, was empty.  I pulled the drain pump and checked it it had some gunk in it cleaned it out.  Also cleaned the manual drain hose, it was clogged  >:( and now it is not. Ran through the QC test all appears to be correct.  Still getting the OE Error, so i sat and watched and entire wash cycle.(short cycle) ;)  It appears to run the entire wash cycle IE fill wash bleach softener etc till it gets to the final spin and drain.  Stooped at 9 on the display and sat there making a low buzz, then the OE code popped up (still had water in tub).  I turned it off and back on and did and manual drain IE spin speed button push and it drained and said end.

I thought it was the drain pump but it would not drain during the other cycles if it was the pump.

Any ideas.

Thanks
Eric

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you need to be a technician to register at lgtechassist.
Unlike ApplianceJunk.com were both the DIY'er and Technicians can register and help each other.

sounds like the pump motor is getting hot throuhout cycle & then buzzing sound @ end of spin, is it humming. sound like you need a new pump/motor assay.

that was sort of what i thought, but if i call for a no spin drain, it pumps out right away.  Do you still think it may be the pump.  This model only uses the pump for draining, it does not reculagte the wash water :-\

when i had the pump out cleaning and checking, the impeller endes were rounded, the picture here http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/lg-drain-pump-assembly-item-number-ap4440742.aspx shows the impeller squared off.  I did not think to look at the housing to see how well it fit in there.

i would run it again with spin selected , but humming noise @ end of cycle. check & see if its indeed the pump/motor assy. humming. if it is replace the pump.

OK all, replaced the drain pump.  Ordered it on line. Installed it when it got here.  Worked fine, :) ;D  At least the drain did, had a new noise when the drum was spinning :embarassed:.  Figured out what it was when the supply hose started to leak  :tickedoff:.  I had left the rear cover off and the tub was rubbing on the hoses.  :embarassed:  Any way replaced the hoses and all is well.

Just thought i would share about leaving the back cover off.  May save someone else the trouble.
