GE bottom freezer diagnositcs question

I am trying to put my refrigerator into diagnositcs mode. The model number is PDS22CPALSS.

I followed the steps outlined in the service manual that I found here on this site.  I am able to get the unit into diagnostics by pressing and holding both fresh food and freezer up and down buttons in for a few seconds. Then I enter various codes into each display. I dont know where to go from there, the diagnostics guide says to press the HOLD button but there is no HOLD button.  The only buttons are the temperature up and down buttons.  I already replaced the main control board assembly but I need to figure out how to further check the defrost system.  about 2 weeks after replacing the board, the evaporator has frosted up again. 

Any suggestions?

Thanks for those videos. proved to be helpful. However I am trying to put a ge bottom freezer model into a test mode using the digital display at the top of the refrigerator section. I want to be able to determine whether the board or the defrost thermostat or heaters are bad.

Replace your defrost heater and defrost thermostat.

The reason for the question is when my techs encounter a non-defrost ge bottom freezer I would like an easy way to test the heater, thermostat and, thermister to ensure that those components are okay and it is in fact the main board.

All those parts can be tested at the motherboard.
