My son was given a Amana washer that was his Grandmothers who died,It had very little use and was in Excellent condition. This washer had been sitting without use for 6 months before getting it home . After hooking it up, It ran through one cycle and then began to smoke,it was the belt, and had burned and broken. I looked at it quickly and the drum and pulley spin free, the motor pump spin free. I was going to get a new belt and run it and watch to see what was causing it to burn. What I am reading about burned belts on Amana/Matags is not good.
I need to get a Model number for this washer ,the Model plate and serial number are located under the lid but its totally obliterated and unreadable I tried cleaning it and even using a blacklight to read it, no luck .The Diagram inside the control panel is part no. 40101902. This is the Commercial quality stainless steel tub model . I think its about 8+ years old.
I also would like to know the easiest way to change the belt. It looks like I have to remove all the springs and lift the whole assy out to remove the pump ,to get at the motor pulley.
Any help would be appreciated
And is this washer worth fixing?
