Lg gas dryer does not dry clothes

(1/1)

bigyj383:
I have a lg gas dryer model dlg5932w. It takes a really long time to dry clothes. The clothes are hot when you take them out just never dry. Tried to run on extra dry but still have same results. The vent doesn't seem to be clogged and I always clean the lint trap. It used to dry clothes all the way in a short time now it has to run several times to get the load somewhat dry. Does the model have a moisture sensor? How do I tell if the blower is working? Also, where the heat comes out is discolored, almost looks burnt. Any help is appreciated

It sounds like the drum isn't turning.  Do this, open the dryer door, press and hold the door light switch, turn on the power and press start.  Does the drum turn?  It sounds like the belt has broke and isn't turning the drum.

Drum is spinning and I cleaned the moisture sensor. We use dryer sheets but the moisture sensor didn't apper to be dirty. Trying to dry a load of clothes as we speak and it has been running for over an hour and still not dry. just had to start dryer again.  How hot should the dryer get? it only seems to get warm. I can feel air flow from the exhuast vent but it's not that hot.

The dryer sheets are your problem.  Run the dryer on a 60 minute timed cycle and see what happens.

More than likely, the wax residue from the dryer sheets have coated the moisture sensor bars to the point that it cannot feel the moisture of the clothes.  You can clean the sensor bars by using a "green scour pad" and rub it over the sensor bars to clean out the wax residue.  The dryer should work fine then.

The discoloration of the vent holes where the heat comes is normal.

Got it figured out. Tried cleaning the moisture sensor but stil having problem. I had previoisly look at the vent and it seems fine. It vents out the roof and from the ground it looks as if it was clear, decided to go up for a look and you will never guess. Clogged shut. The vent has z flap that pen with air flow and the lint that made it up there was hiding the flap shut. All is well now. Thanks for the help.
