Maytag Legacy Washer - Loud noise in spin cycle M# SAV515DAWW

I got in this Maytag Legacy Washer M# SAV515DAWW  S# 10147229CP

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem could be?  I thought I would ask before tearing into it!!

HEY! so, as i've dumped about $100 in parts already into my maytag washer (sav205daww) that makes that noise and all, i was wondering what the outcome of replacing that part was - did it fix the problem? did it end up being something else? any help on this topic would be appreciated...

Well, the problem started with a snapped belt (ten years of good service - no noises beforehand).

So, I replaced the drive belt, the tension pulley, and the drain pump (which welded to the drive shaft, so had to be destroyed in order to be removed). After playing with it, it looks like the thrust bearing kit isn't catching and spinning the tub. If I push up on the bottom part (the plastic helix) it catches during the agitate cycle, but slips again during the spin cycle. I'm afraid that it might be some part of the transmission that's not working and that I might just have to find a new washer. Any thoughts?

Also, the new drain pump looks like it might be a dud. It leaks. A lot.

I don't know much about the physics in a washing machine, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

When the pump leaks and the motor shaft rusts you must remove the rust and then file the shaft back to its original dimension or when you install the pump it will bind on the shaft and prevent the seal in the pump from seating properly.
