Frigidaire Fridge Help
« on: November 12, 2011, 09:43:01 PM »
I'm helping another person fix their appliance.  I have yet to touch a fridge.

Model# HTS22GBMARWW

The freezer is thawed and the fresh food section is not cold.  What do I need to do to fix it?

Some quick checks I would do...

See if the freezer is frosted up, maybe not defrosting.
If it's frosted up check the defrost timer (or control board) defrost thermostat and defrost heater.

See if the freezer fan is running.
If the fan is not running check to make sure it's getting power. If it has power replace the fan.

Check to see if the compressor is running.

If the compressor is not running see if you have power to the start relay on the side of the compressor.
If you have power to the start relay, but the compressor does not run ohm the compressor out.
If the compressor ohms out ok then replace the start relay.

This one doesn't have a defrost timer.  How would I test the control board?

Not sure how you would test the board on this one, but there is only three parts to any defrost system.

1. Defrost Heater
2. Defrost Thermostat
3. Defrost Timer (Electronic Control or Mechanical Timer)

If you know it's a defrost problem you can simple ohm out the heater and thermostat. If they check ok then you know the problem is with the defrost timer/control.

Oops, my bad.  The person told me it was a Hotpoint, not Frigidaire.

No problem, I'm not the familiar with GE model number and did not notice until I started looking at the parts diagram.

Sure seems like I replace a lot of GE refrigerator control boards.

Anyone else end up replacing them often?

Seems like if i see a GE refrigerator with a control board in it there is a 50/50 chance that I will be replacing the control board, but like i said I don't see many GE refrigerators around here either.
