On this Kitchen Aid KAWS700JQ0 washer I could hear the motor running, but it would not spin or agitate.

As with any other technician that has been in the business for any length of time I have seen this many times.

I remove the washer cabinet, removed the pump and motor so I could inspect the motor coupling. Just as I suspected the motor coupling was bad.

After replacing the motor coupling with a new one I put everything back together and ran the washer to test it.

The washer worked great!

very easy money, but why take of cabinet, just tilt washer back, & do it all from bottom.

I find it easier to remove the cabinet myself.

with those metal inserts, makes it harder from bottom, put a little grease on them, helps!

The machine was designed to be kept in place where it is. All you have to do is remove the case. No need in laying it down disconnecting hoses and all.

I take the cabinet off unless there's no room to put it anywhere. If I need to remove the transmission, I find it easier to leave the cabinet on.  I don't disconnect any hoses, just pull it out and lean it against the wall.

So you guys that just tip the washer back to replace the coupler do you remove the pump and motor too?
I would think it would be a lot harder to remove the clips on the pump and motor that way unless I'm missing something.

I tipped a old maytag washer back one time to change the belts like I had done many times before, but this time the back of the washer hit the water inlet hose were it was screwed on to the shut off and busted the hose off.

I was lucky that it end up being in a motel laundry room with a floor drain so no damage was done.
