GE Top Mount

Ok, I've looked all over and can't find why...   Why does GE use 2 defrost thermostats?

One of them is a thermistor that is monitored by the board to verify the defrost heater is working, the other one kills the heater/s when the temp gets to 50f I imagine.

No, JW, it has two defrost thermostats in series and shows them on the schematic that way...

Well if one failed to open I guess the other one is a backup. Never seen that setup before.

Both defrost thermostats are listed at part # WR50X10071
I have never seen a refrigerator with two defrost thermostats.
Maybe it's so they can sell more parts, lol..


I also wonder what the reason for it is, anyone know?

I have looked on the GE site, but can't find the reason.....  Maybe I'll do their next conference call and ask. :)
