This is another freebee I got the other day. Stacked unit with gas dryer on top thats only a few years old and probably only used a few months. Nice unit. I started on it tonight. Washer motor hums when on spin cycle. Previous owner bought and installed a new motor and I believe the cap too. I plugged it in to verify this. I had a spair motor and swapped it out. Still hums. Swapped cap, still hums. I even installed a different timer, still hums. I also checked for breaks in the wiring with no obvious damage. The lid switch is the only guess I have left cause it looks like its been tampered with cause the striker on the lid is missing so you have to manually press it in. The dryer works fine as far as I can tell. Anyone seen this before? Oh yeah the tub spins free so there aint no drywall screws in it.    Also removed the belt.

Did you just visually check the wires or check with a meter?  It sounds like the start winding is not getting any power.  Check the purple wire for continuity from the timer to the motor.  Check the orange from the timer to the cap and from the cap to the motor.   Schematic

UPDATE! I went ahead and order a cap and got it today. Installed it and plug it in. Fire shot out the inside back of the unit from the main wire harness and woke my a#s up real quick.    Found a pinched wire with insulation nicked and grounding. For some reason the harness was loose and not strapped down. See attached pictures and note the burn mark on the cabinet. Repaired the wire, reinstalled the motor etc. and she fired right up. All for some time and about $8 bucks. Looks like another nice profit on this one.
