Gas Dryer will not stop timer keeps going
« on: October 20, 2011, 10:18:10 PM »
When out on this one today;

On a ADG7005AWW gas dryer. keeps running through the cycles. When the dryer comes to the end of a cycle, the buzzer goes off, the drum continues to spin, the timer continues to run and advances to the next cycle. It goes on to the next cycle,  completes this cycle, buzzes and goes on to etc.
 Opening the door stops the dryer. Closing the door does not cause the cycle to be resumed, but using the start knob will resume .

Manually turning the timer to off will not stop the dryer..

Unplugged the (pink wire) buzzer and buzzer switch thinking they maybe shorted ... no change...

Start switch is in the timer push to start...

Timer has been changed three times and the motor has been changed also gas coils...

Any other ideas of what to check?

I had an old electric Maytag in here a few years ago like that. It was the timer and I just parted it out.

Check your wire bundles for burnt wires and shorts.  With all the parts changing it seems like everything else is covered.

Contacts inside the timer are stuck together. Take it apart and free up the contacts

This one is driving me nuts. All wires look good .

Is there some way that the timer can be getting power to the timer motor from the door switch?

I was thinking
If the yellow/black wires and the black and white wires where where switched .

Yb=M
Bk/w=S

This would keep power too the timer as long as the door was closed ?

The orange wire goes from the timer motor down to the 3 wire control thermostat. Obviously it runs the motor when not calling for heat. The bimetal contacts inside it must be fried together. Swap it out
