Amana side by side no water from the door then no cooling

Customer said water would stop working then freezer would stop... everything started melting customer said they removed everything from the freezer then the compressor came back on and it was working again...


my first idea was the defrost thermostat was not resetting... turning off the fan   freezing the water tank and no fan no cooling...




I get to the customers house and it work fine fans blowing turn it into defrost heater comes on . compressor is hot amp dram .9 amps and ohms out fine.

Did you force defrost?

Yes I turned the defrost timer over to defrost and the heat came on fan turned off.... the home owner bought some thermometers and it was set on 2 and -4 in the freezer and 40 in the beer cooler side...

Bad cold control.  At first it stuck closed and froze the water line and then stuck open, thawing everything out.  I carry a temporary cold control on the truck.  Gets the fridge working and helps confirm the diagnosis until I come back with the part.
