Probably has a set/programmed water level built in that bypasses the sensor?

The load size algorithm: tied to the timer, is based on the tub size and ATC ('pressure switch') specified for the model as inlet flow is calculated by the flow meter. Basically, if the pressure switch detects a higher water level vs. time than the flow meter registers for an empty tub, the 'timer' (where the calculation is actually done) will trigger a 'heavy load'. And correct, there is no legitimate way to test the ATC without specialized test equipment (in the field; substitution is best.)
Seen a lot of orders for the flow switch by newbies (not a frequent failure.)
The ATC ('pressure switch') is our normal truck stock (85% hit.) We less frequently replace the 'timer' too... (see below.)

Whirlpool has a big thing for making sure these models are wired correctly neutral vs. ground, evidently there's concern for AC leakage in the internal wiring *and* we're supposed to make sure the drain outlet can't siphon (or vacuum) through a 'sealed' drain connection (to prevent repeat failure of the ATC.)

HTH,
-Robert

rmbraught,

Do you see the Auto load Detection switch W10292584. which is behind the fabric softener a failure or .. Do you also see the W10248240 ATC switch failures.. it.. is behind the temp switch....

I also noticed that the handwash will fill correctly. but no other cycle will...any way to test the timer without substitution ?

Thanks Krazytech

? On the model in question, I don't see a separate ATC and auto load switch : in fact the W10248240 *is* a combo ATC and autoload switch, a frequent flyer, that we keep on truck stock.

I don't see a W10292584 on the BOM/exp view (IPL), sorry (?) for version '1'; it's on version '0'. Different ATC on version '0' too. Needless to say don't switch parts between versions!

...and AFA testing the timer in circuit, too early for me to read a timer chart ;)
