KFCP02IRWH1, this compactor started to oscillate up and down and then would stop running until it cooled down. This is a sign of a shorted motor switch which often happens after a few years of use, or if the customer has a bad habit of trying to open the door while the unit is running. The switch contacts arc closed and cause the motor to switch directions until the motor heats up causing the overload thermostat to open. Once the unit cools down and the thermostat closes, and the cycle continues until power is removed from the unit. The switch contacts can often be cleaned with a jewelers file, but I chose to replace this one for a more permanent fix.
