Kenmore refrigerator 106.5852700 ice door

Hey all,

First post here. I think I know which kit I need but wanted to make sure before buying.

Like the subject says I have a Kenmore 106.6862700 and the ice door hasn't really closed and sealed tight for awhile, so it would frost up the freezer. I decided to take it apart and see if I could fix it, but either in the process (or maybe it was already broken and that's why the door wasn't shutting) a little black tab that the pin fits into on the right hand side broke off.

I think I need one of these two kits, but I'm not exactly sure which one. The first one looks exactly like what I have, but I'm not sure it'll work with the broken tab... the second one seems to match the description but I wanted to make sure it would fit my fridge:

you will need kit #2.   That kit will have everything you will need including instructions.  Be sure to line the new metal bracket up perfectly the first time.  once installed, its not coming back off.  Good luck.  Let us know how you make out.

Thank you! I'll grab the kit and install. My assumption/hope is that #2 is an updated/better design that doesn't rely on the brittle plastic tabs to keep everything in place.

#2  is a repair kit designed to be used when the tab breaks off.   you want to line the new bracket up as close as you can to the original tabs.  i have never had to go back to repair one since i have installed a kit on one.

the new kit is a metal and like schaffer said you have one shot to line it up when you install it so be careful
