The motor has a drip shield and the pump has a drip shield. If they would install a drip shield on the transmission shaft above the main bearing then if the tub leaked at least the bearing would not get wet and go out. Also the yoke is stainless steel and it is bolted to the tranny which is a potmetal alloy. The caked on detergent cause a catalyst and them bolts won't budge as a result. I wonder who designs these fugups?

Well JW, if a machine pisses me off that much I put it up in my barn for a parts machine. I rarely have much trouble out of the Frigidaires and I dont mind working on them cause they are farely simple machines and easy to work on. I have finished mine and here is the finished product.

So it was a screw instead of a nail. I was close. ;)

Yep. Close. I noticed a few more screwed up things I had to fix before selling it. Someone had tampered with the wiring on the water temp switch. Hot was cold and vise versa. Had to switch all 4 wires around. Also the tub only filled with 12 inches of water, not 13.5" to 15.2" on the specs. I got it at 14" and left it.  Someone had adjusted the screw on the fill valve. After those things were fixed I've done about 4 loads in it and I have posted it for sale on my local Craigslist  O0

How much will you sell it for?  I have a Frigidaire that I'm fixing up to sell right now.  It looks to be about the same age as yours.

I usually sell these for $150-185 depending on condition. If I have a matched set with a dryer I have sold them as a set for $350.

Wow, I'm not selling mine for enough.  The most I sold a washer for so far was $160.  I have a matching set of Fridgidairs that I'm working on.

Got in my van now. Sold. Compare local appliance resellers and shops in your area. As long as your below there prices you will sell them quick. I get as much as I can out of each one. Most are $125 and up. ;D
