Fridgidaire Washer and Dryer
« on: October 08, 2011, 09:32:48 PM »
Model# Fws1233fs1 - washer
Fgr641fs0 - dryer

So I picked up an extremely dirty, but newer Frigidaire washer/dryer set today.  This is the first pair of Frigidaires that I have come across so I'm not 100% confident in my diagnosis.  The dryer had this extremely high pitched squeal.  From what I've been reading, I need to replace the rear bearing on the dryer.  Anything else I should look for?  The glides look good and I highly doubt that loud squeal is coming from the idler pulley.

Now, the washing machine is a whole different story.  The person that I got the washer from said that it wouldn't spin.  My first thought was the lid switch, but as you can see in the video it's working just fine.  I noticed in one of the timer settings that it took awhile for it to kick into spin.  There's also some black residue from the belt along with a bit of a squeak squeak.  I'm thinking I need to replace the belt.  Is there anything else that I may be overlooking?  Is it normal for the basket to keep spinning after the lid switch is disengaged?  Whirlpools brake when you open the lid.

Here's a video of the washer in action:

Thanks!

Replace the rear bearing on the dryer. Replace the belt and belt tensioner on the washer.  O0

Also, it is normal for it to continue to spin. That's why the lid locks for about a minute on the spin cycle after completing.

I was wondering if that may be the case.

Also should I go with the complete bearing kit or just the bearing?

If the ball on the rear of the drum is smooth and not all chewed up you can get away with just replacing the plastic bearing cup by itself. Check to see if the metal mount for the plastic bearing is in good shape to. If either of these looks worn buy the whole kit, its only and extra $20.

It takes me a while to turn these around since I only have a few hours  a week to work on them, but here's the dryer running, no more squeak:

The washer in delicate cycle.  Are Frigidaires normally that noisy in delicate cycle?
