GE DSS25KSRD filter light issues?

Purchased a used refrig in January, 2011. Changed the water filter when bought.

Is the water filter indicator light supposed to be on all the time? It has never been on. I don't know how often I should change the filter but the water flow is getting very weak.

I pressed the "filter indicator" button and held it for 3 seconds and the light flashes red, then holds red, and then goes out. It only does this while I'm holding the button.

What does this mean? Circuit board?

It may be an issue with the board but really the filter inidcator is usually just kind of like a timer, meaning that theres no flow meter measuring how much water goes through it. You should change your filter at least every 6 months.

I noticed that the "LOCK" button is the same pattern as the "FILTER INDICATOR".  You have to hold the button for 3 secs, it blinks 6 times and then stays on (or off).

My Filter light is the same pattern. When held, it blinks 6 times (red) but does not stay on.

Is there some sort of "RESET" for the entire system? Some secret pattern of button pressing?

According to my manual I need GWF filter.

MWFA GWF and MWF are all the same filters.
