Maytag A608 no agitation

Hi, my washer won't agitate. It seems that the belt is too loose. If I pull the motor it will work. I get tired doing that. The springs seem ok and I wd40ed the track itcetera. It seems like the pump belt takes too much of the tension. Do I just need a new drive belt? It seems to run smoothly when I tension it. It takes quite a bit of time to build up to full spin speed.            thanks        mark

That is what I would try first. These are great machines and a lot of times all I need to do to them is put a new set of belts on them.

Buy the Pump & Drive Belt together and replace them both.

Thanks for the replies.  The motor and pump seem to run freely. Anybody know a good parts source in Canada.      mark
