Access to Connector: GE JGBC20WEW2WW Gas Range
« on: September 20, 2011, 02:42:23 PM »
Howdy, fellow techs.
A friend of mine has the above mentioned gas range, on which the oven igniter failed. The problem is accessing the connector. The back panel is integrated with the side skins and frame brackets: When all the screws are removed, the rear STILL has to come off the gas line to the oven safety valve. Methinks this isn't GE's intended pathway to replacing the igniter.

It's a very old model, so we opted to cut a hole in the back to wire-nut the replacement part in place. Got 'er going; but would still enjoy seeing a manual for servicing this monster!

Through  the oven (after removing bottom panel) is how I do them. Did one this morning.

Thanks, Oldstove. I tried to do that with this one, but wasn't able to pull enough wire loose from the spring clips to expose the connector.

I usually cut it at the ignitor and splice the two with a porcelain wire nut.
