KitchenAid KSCS25INWH00 - replacing ice maker feed tube

Quick question...the tube that runs from valve to the top of my freezer (above the ice maker) has dried out and broken.  I know that I need part # AP3182503 which has the black fitting on one end (for water output above ice maker)....BUT here's my question.   If I remove the old tube by pulling out through the top of my freezer, how hard is it to feed the replacement tube through so it exits out the back of the freezer.   I'm a little freaked out to pull it out the whole way...afraid I'll be SOL.

Any advice?

Where is it broken? Down by the compressor? I get a 1/4 compression union and a couple of feet of 1/4 plastic tubing from the hardware store, and splice them together. Make sure you get the ferrules and inserts made for plastic.

Never had a problem, but if you want just pull the old one out with a string tied to the other end. Then you can connect the string to the new one to help pull it through.

When pulling other small water lines I run a small screw in the end of the plastic tube and tie the string around the head of the screw.

"theoldstoveguy" - It was too late to fix with compression fitting and piece of tube...I already ordered part.  Damn!
