GE Washer keeps going into next cycle, replaced timer still does same thing. upon closer examination it seems mabe the voltage keeping the timer advancing could be coming through the relay. i can not  get it to keep advancing if i turn the timer to off, it stays off as it should, however if i start it from any cycle  it just keeps on advancing. strange problem. makes my brain swell. thanks, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Where is this relay your talking about? I don't see many GE washer, but was looking at the diagram for your washer trying to find the relay.

The relay is located next to the timer. It is a clear plastic relay with a bundle of wires wrapped with black electric tape.

Do you service GE appliances?
Do you think this relay could be causing the problem he is having with his washer?

I think you got a bad new timer.  Every time I've had a washer running through to the next cycle it's been the timer.  It's rare but I have seen it on a new timer.  In fact, I have new Whirlpool timer in my returns bin right now with that problem.

The relay is not on the diagram. The tech sheet shows the relay but the print on tech sheet is poor and unreadable. I have been learning appliance repair for one year. Jim is helping me figure this out. If he could read the tech sheet, he could fix it.

I wonder if you don't just have a bad new timer like tgoods said. Maybe one of our GE techs can post a better tech sheet for you. I can't find one myself.

I would like to add, Jim ordered from Cashwell, relay wh12x10213 just to have on hand. It is back ordered. I have ordered another timer also. Still looking for the tech sheet.

To bad the schematic is illegible, I'd like to see what the relay is for.  The relay should be easy enough to check.  Check for voltage at the coil terminals.  Check for continuity through the contactor terminals.  Disconnect one of the contactor terminals and see if the timer stops advancing.

The Relay is for the 2 speed Washer Motor
If, for whatever reason, the Water Level Switch sensed "full", the Timer Motor will stay powered.
Test  the Water Level Switch.

Clean the gunk out of the pressure tube.  The gunk buildup acts like a check valve and keeps pressure in the tube even with an empty tub.  I've seen it at least a couple dozen times on GE washers.
