Whirlpool won't spin
« on: August 27, 2011, 06:45:30 PM »
Washer tub will not spin. Replaced drive coupling and clutch. Bypassed lid switch. When I take the tub out the shaft spins. It will agitate with tub in but will not spin. Is there some sort of shim that connects the tub to the drive shaft. Gearbox seems to be operating fine. Any ideas???

Model GSQ9669LW0

I have already tried that. There was nothing in between the plastic outer tub and the metal inner tub

That tranny rebuild vid shows the cam actuator. It is gonna be that or a smashed down spin pawl. That pawl allows the pump to discharge the water without the tub spinning. The washer has a built in pause to stop the motor so that the spin pawl will engage. Over time it gets smashed down and will not catch. This Training Manual l shows how it works

If the shaft spins without the tub on spin cycle and agitate on the wash cycle what makes you think there is something wrong with the tranny?

Sometimes the spin pawl gets smashed down and won't catch under the main gear OR the main gear itself is worn out

Quick question about the 16 oz gearcase oil. Is there an alternative to use from the spurious parts store, and what weight should you use? I think I remember a previous post about this. Thanks.
