Whirlpool washer is not agitating properly

I've opened it up and the coupler is in tact. I've looked around, and all the blogs I can find end at the coupler as the problem. I'm hoping I can get some more input here and find the proper direction to go.

Sorry I should also probably describe the action here. The agitator does move but it is really feeble. The machine also seems to spin fine though I'm far from expert in the area. Hope this helps you help me , and thanks to whomever responds here.

Common problem, cheap and easy repair.

Hi guys, I discovered the washer dog issue about 20 minutes after posting this, but my IP crapped out so I couldn't take this any further.

I have however run into a new snag in my genius plan here. This agitator seems to be absolutely WELDED together. I've run hot water through it with my shower head, soaked it in a 5 gal bucket of hot water and this thing just will NOT come apart. I mean it's a pain in the ass to get any kind of real leverage when pulling on it, but I think I get enough of a grip to exert a significant amount of force here. Any other ideas? I'm almost to tow straps and a car to see what happens.

Some of these are literally welded together.  When you look down the top of the agitator you'll see four melted plastic tabs.  Take a dremel and grind those tabs off.  You can also remelt them with a soldering iron to get it apart.  Don't worry about rewelding it, this is something Whirlpool did to keep the agitator parts together on the assembly line.

Sit it on the floor and hold it down with your feet. Yank the top portion off. Get mean with it.
