Kenmore Elite Washer, trouble removing console

Hello,

I have a Kenmore Elite top load washer (mod: 110.24942301) that will not spin or agitate. I suspect it is a bad motor coupling.

I'm having trouble figure out how to open the top console.

There are no visible screws or end caps.

I did some googling and one post says: "Use a flat blade screw driver to push from the front on the clip, (#8 in the diagram), and the head should release and lift up."

I tried doing that but the clip was hard to reach and did not budge. Plus, how am I supposed to push both clips at the same time? Do I do this from the side or the front of the washer?

That video does not help me. The model I have does not have end caps or front facing screws.

Around the 1 minute mark in the video it talks about and shows the clip style that you have.

When I put the machine on "spin" I hear a loud grinding/motor/vibration sound but nothing turns. I also can't turn the basket manually. I just assumed this is a bad motor coupler. Would you agree?

I need to get a hex tool before I can take the motor clips off....

Yes, I would take a look at the motor coupling first. It's easy to check by simply looking at it to see if it's broken.
