Whirlpool Calypso Washer
« on: August 22, 2011, 07:26:11 AM »
I have a Whirlpool Calypso Washer that was recently repaired with a new Brand New Water Pump, to the life of me I can not activate the White/Whites button nor the Heavy Duty push buttons on the console. When I go to push the normal mode it activates the console but when I try to push the White/Whites button it cancels the time and/or when I go to activate and push the Heavy Duty button nothing happens. It looks like it's DEAD! All other buttons working fine? Do you think this is a NEW CONTROL PANEL in the works?

Thank You for your input! :D

Go back and check all the connections. Did yall remove the tub to do the repair? Or did yall remove the bottom plate?

Just removed the bottom plate, and front panel and made sure the switches were working correctly. I also had the console off to see if there were any burn marks on the control board but didn't see any?

I have one of these washers out back. I had 2 of them but I fixed one of them and gave it to my father in law. All it had was strings in the pump, click pics below to enlarge. All the controls are in tact but shes been out in the yard. Service manual

I just found some previously unpublished photos I made while working on one of these recently. I am thinking about bloging these photos.

I recently replaced the water pump with a new one $93. After replacing the old one I took the old one apart to see what caused the problem - It had lint & string wrapped around the pump interior shaft which was frozen. Also noticed the pump leaked and fried the motor windings and corroded the motor with a light green tinge. Now the whitest/whites and heavy duty electronic controls don't work, everything else does??

Might be you need to just keep working them button. Try a very hot damp cloth. Go over the buttons to loosen them up a tad.
