LG DLG9588SM dryer was not heating

LG DLG9588SM dryer was not heating found answer on a site I could not give credit to the person unfortunately because link did not work but fix did. Unfortunately my daughter did several loads of laundry without cleaning the lint screen on top of a needed duct cleaning.  It turns out it tripped and over heat switch located near the burner pipe.

HELLO:
Have you looked at the over heat sensor on the left hand bottom of the burner pipe?
I found this and with a simple test with a butane lighter.
I used a cheep Digital volt meter and set it to ohms.
The sensor was open meanning that their was no connection between the terminals.
On the rear of this sensor there is a small button.
When I pushed the button I hear it click and the switch closed up.
I reinstalled it and the machine work perfect.
I think this is a fail safe if the exaust flue becomes clogged.
Otherwise why would it have a re-set button on it?
I am not a service / repair person.
Unplug the unit before you take the lid and front cover off.
the burner unit is in the lower right hand corner as you face the dryer.
The top comes off first and then the control panel and then you can remove the door and front panel to expose the blower and burner.

This is what worked and no I am not Uncle Ed but wish I could have thanked him LOL

The reset switch is very hard to find. On right side of lower assembly. When you locate the burner pipe? as he put it.  On the left lower side of that pipe you will see a sensor with two wires coming out.  What you can't see is a reset button in between those two wires. It's there!!! I could barely fit my finger in between the two to find a button.  But sure enough there it was.  Pushed on it and heard the click.    Has worked perfect ever since.  

Of course it is essential to check all reasons why it tripped in the first place and rectify.  We cleaned inside of dryer assembly bottom thoroughly.  Used duct cleaning equipment to clean the dryer vent line to the outside which we try do at least yearly but now have decided bi annually is required do to poor design of the builder and too many turns. Also lecture to 23 year old about cleaning the dryer vent after each load.

My husband had tested what he could before I found this fix mentioned by Uncle Ed.

He saved us money we definitely did not have at the time.  

So if you own a LG gas dryer and it is not heating at all try the reset button.  Pain to take this dryer apart but worth saving the money.  This is my second repair on this unit that is maybe 4 years old.  First one was dryer rollers gone bad that sounded like a pair of sneakers in the dryer....

Never again LG will I buy one of your appliances.  You look pretty but it stops there.

If that high limit reset switch should trip again, recommend replacing it.

Yes I agree!  So far so good 2 months later.  At least I know where it is located now to replace if necessary. Their diagrams were less then helpful.
