90 series washer not spinning
« on: August 04, 2011, 11:49:54 AM »
Good Day AJ !!!
90 series washer not spinning does everything else,   sounds as if it's spinning but tub dosent move during spin cycle......
If it has a bad gear, best to just replace the trans. ???

I noticed the post about the 600 series......not seeing anything about just getting gears, and not sure I wanna tackle that replacement,  replacing the whole trans I could handle......

thanks in advance for you help !!!

Check the Motor Coupling first.

There is a video on this page that will show you how to replace it.

Then I would take the cabinet off and watch the transmission and clutch as the washer tries to spin.

You will need to jump out the lid switch before you can run it with the cabinet off.

See if the transmission is spinning the clutch when it's trying to spin. The clutch is the round part that sits on top the transmission.

If the clutch is spinning then the clutch is slipping or something is caught between the inner and outer tubs keeping it from turning.

If the transmission does not spin the clutch then you have a problem with the transmission.

Please do let us know what you find. Also if it does end up being the transmission you can get parts for it. If you don't mind getting a little oil on your hands there is nothing in the transmission to be afraid of. ;)

Of coarse you can always replace the transmission too, it just cost a lot more.

Let us know...

I don't mind getting oil on my hands, I use to paint cars, let me tell ya that's a dirty job..............I watched the video of replacing parts in the gears in the tranny,   just didn't wanna get into a mess with that, and then have to get more parts, and still not have the machine running.....
will see what's up 1st,  then go from there.........
as always thanks for all your help !!!!

I would definetly check the operation of the clutch first. That's easier than a transmission rebuild O0

Well good day A J      update on the washer...........thanks for all the tips on what to check.   Someone forgot to check pockets before they threw the wash in........ :D   Bic lighter was stuck between in the tubs and not allowing it to spin.......removed the lighter and bingo !!!!!    works like a charm !!!!

My buddies wife is not gonna be too happy,  as he is the one that "broke" the machine.   >:(

Wish all fixes were this easy !!!
have a good day !

They'll be calling you when the Cabrio breaks down. Shouldn't be too long. Any day now.
