Kenmore Washer - Fills but won't agitate

This morning my wife started a wash.  The washer filled as usual but won't move through any of the other cycles -- agitate, spin, or rinse -- either automatically or manually.

Is this something I can repair or do I need a professional?

We need the complete model number including the first 3 digits and the period.
Otherwise,you have a defective lid switch.
The complete model number will allow us to identify the part number.

Could be something as simple as the connector block that shoves into the timer has backed out a little. Or the motor capacitor is gone bad. Look for leakage or swelling on it. Try to discharge it using a insulated screw driver. You should get a little pop when it is discharged. No pop no good.

Might also be the lid switch. On this model the washer won't spin or wash with a broken lid switch
