After Self cleaning cycle the oven will not heat up.
« on: July 18, 2011, 01:33:50 PM »
No history of problems with this unit.  The panel appears normal when you try to bake or broil, in normal or convection mode and you can hear it start.  it stays on Lo and there is no heat at all.

This started after self cleaning yesterday and there were no error messages.

I reset the breaker to see if it would reset after PF and there was no change.

I see this problem in a lot of online searches and several solutions suggested.  What I do not see is which resolution worked.

Any ideas are appreciated.

The bake element shutdown switch has probably opened due to extreme self-clean temperature.
It is replaceable only.

I don't know why they put the self clean option on ovens anyways...lets see how hot we can make it to burn off all the stuff inside! Who's idea was that?!?

There have been so many service bulletins for this problem, I've lost count.  The last one says to replace the thermal cutoff and replace the blower with a larger one, W10176670.  Give Whirlpool a call, they might fix it for free.

I replaced the thermal cutoff and all is well.  Except for my wife when I told her she would have to clean the oven the old fashioned way.

Thanks for the help.

I had one like this, The customer had a dead oven and tripped circuit breaker we replaced the thermal cut , worked until she self cleaned again then replaced both thermal cut out and fan.  thermal when again.  she had the oven replace with a brand new oven same model...she self cleaned again...dead oven...  When out again with a clamp amp meter and a new thermal and fan... put in the new thermal and fan and started self clean... Amp draw was good.. when to lunch came back hour later, Oven was working when to check the circuit breaker and it was HOT ....So the oven was going into self clean getting hot tripping the breaker,  cutting off the fan. So with the fan off the cabinet temp would trip the thermal. .Replaced the circuit breaker ... all good.,
Check the Basics first!!! Read the Manual !!!Buy the tech a Beer!!!
