Needing help on trouble what is wrong.

New to this site and I am searching for info on what might be wrong with my Maytag washer(model MAH6500AWW).  When in the rinse cycle the machine softener water port does not shoot water out like the detergent port does.  I am thinking that the port itself is clogged?  Does it make sense to think the pump or control board my be failing?  Anyone out there have any thoughts?

That is what I would check first.

Does it make sense to think the pump or control board my be failing?

Not at this point, if it's sending some water through the dispenser. If anything you may need to replace the water valve that send water to the dispenser to flush it out.
