Maytag top load washer

Washer started making loud sporadic rock grindy noise....doesn't spin water out,  but agitator still agitates. Took belt off all three pulleys....the pump pulley turns without resistance and makes no clunky noise but does make a swishy water noise....middle pulley turns freely, but has slight resistance in one area.....please help.....

whats the motor feel like? Any play in the pulley?

Take off front panel by sticking a small flat blade screw driver or putty knife in between the top panel on both sides about 2 or 3 inches from the corner,then take off 2 screws to remove front panel. fill the washer with water then cycle it to spin and you should be able to hear and see where this noise is coming from, also check pump, bearings might be bad.
